MEDICAL PHYSICALS FOR THE 2020-2021 SCHOOL YEAR
The NSAA is allowing all Pre-Participation Physical Examinations for the 2019-2020 school year to be acceptable for the 2020-2021 seasons. This recommendation is for a one-year exemption only and does not include incoming freshmen. They continue to recommend that incoming freshmen students visit their primary care providers for the physical examination.
Therefore, any Mullen student athletes in grades 10th, 11th, or 12th, that have a physical exam on file from 2019-2020 will now be valid for the 2020-2021 school year. All incoming freshmen are still required to provide the school with the PPE paperwork that is dated no earlier than May 1, 2020.
Nebraska state law also requires all incoming 7th grade students and all incoming Kindergarten students to provide documentation of a physical examination prior to the start of the school year.
If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Kuncl or Mr. Kvanvig.

A Note From Coach Brooke:
As much as this is a meeting about rules + expectations for the 2020-2021 season it is also about getting to know each other better. I am so excited to meet all of you. I encourage anyone who may be interested in cheerleading to come to this meeting and see what it’s all about. I spent more than 12 years of my life on the mat and on the field; those memories are still the ones I cherish most. I look forward to seeing you all there!

MEDIA ADVISORY

NET Radio Documentary Focuses on Remote Learning at Mullen Public Schools
A radio documentary from NET, Nebraska’s PBS & NPR Stations, “Remote Learning in Remote Nebraska,” will tell the story of one school district’s transition to remote learning because of COVID-19.
The Mullen Public School district will be featured in this 30-minute radio program at 5:30 p.m. MT, Thursday, May 14. It will also be available at netNebraska.org/remotelearning.
The program will focus on how educators quickly came up with a remote learning plan, including deciding whether or not to grade work; creative and innovative ways teachers and parents found to engage students’ challenges, including limited WiFi, creating learning spaces at home and the lack of face-to-face connection; and what it’s like to be a graduating senior.
The program will also provide a glimpse into life in the remote Sandhills region of Nebraska. The Mullen Public School district, with 157 students grades K-12, is bigger than the state of Rhode Island in terms of square miles, and normally some students travel an hour, one way, to get to school.
“In a matter of a few days, I had to completely kind of flip the way that I teach,” said science teacher Sarah Hardin. “I think we’re in uncharted territory.”
The radio documentary (that was also created remotely in our NET producer’s temporary basement office) is part of the NET “What If…” project on innovation and creativity in Nebraska. Learn more at netNebraska.org/whatif.
The high school choir students recorded themselves singing their contest solos and were virually judged by two professionals. The results are as follows, judged 1-5 with 1 as superior.
Madison Jones: 2
Bella Cedillo-Ray: 2
Faith Miller: 2
Isaac Welch: 2
