Mullen Student of the Month Written By Megan Andersen Mullen Public Schools is proud to announce Orabella Heaton as the Student of the Month for her outstanding contributions to both academics and the school community. Orabella was nominated as student of the month by Mullen staff during their monthly Leadership Council meeting. Attributes staff may consider are leadership, work ethic, volunteer work, and helping with the overall betterment of MHS. Orabella, a sophomore, has exemplified qualities of diligence, positivity, and kindness, making her a well-deserving recipient of this monthly recognition. Mr. Taylor states, "Orabella is always conscious of the little things, and that is the essence of math. She completes her assignments on time and shows her work on each problem. Orabella asks the 'why' questions in class." It is evident that her commitment to understanding the underlying concepts not only enhances her own learning experience but also contributes to the entire classroom environment. Mrs. Vinton, another one of Orabella's teachers, praises her for her positivity and collaboration. "Orabella always has a smile on her face and a kind word. She works well both independently and with peers. She has a great sense of humor and is so fun to have in class!". Mrs. Jewell, reflecting on Orabella's addition to the sophomore class, adds, "Orabella has been an amazing addition to the sophomore class. She is eager to learn and quick to smile. She is kind and compassionate with everyone she comes in contact with. She is a great student, and I really enjoy having her in class!" Mr. Hoyt, recognizing Orabella's influence beyond academics, states, "Orabella has a tremendous work ethic, paired with a great attitude. She is a positive role model for younger students and is always kind and polite to everyone." Ms. Donohoe reiterates many of the other teachers’ sentiments about Orabella by stating, “Orabella has been an excellent addition to our school! Her kind, upbeat personality lifts up everyone around her and shines through in everything she does. I greatly appreciate her attention to her schoolwork and communication regarding classwork in absences; even coming in ahead of time to get work done. Thanks for being you, Bella!” Orabella Heaton's dedication to her studies, coupled with her positive influence on those around her, truly sets her apart. As Student of the Month, she represents the values of Mullen Public Schools, showcasing the impact that a thoughtful and committed student can have on both academic and social aspects of school life. Congratulations to Orabella on this well-deserved recognition!

The sophomores rolled the dice to see how well their antibiotics and bacteria survived in different scenarios. They also really enjoyed plating with the blocks after the activity.
